Behaviour Consultations

Behavioral Consults are an excellent way to address specific issues you may be facing with your dog, such as barking, nipping, mouthing or biting, digging, chewing, or other destructive behaviors, as well as on-lead reactivity or helping your new dog settle in. Since each dog and situation is unique, we tailor each private consult to meet your specific needs and those of your dog, all in the privacy of your own home

Baby Puppy Program

Our Baby Puppy Program is designed for puppies aged 8-15 weeks and includes four one-hour lessons. This program helps you and your pup prepare for your new life together, covering socialization, basic behaviors, and more.

Classes are held at the 1st East Gosford Scout Hall on Wattle Street in East Gosford.

Senior Puppy Program

Our Senior Puppy Program is designed for puppies aged 16-24 weeks and consists of five one-hour lessons. The goal of our Senior Puppy Program is to instill good puppy manners, such as sitting for guests, walking calmly on the lead, focus work, coming when called, and more.

Our classes are held at the 1st East Gosford Scout Hall, Wattle St, East Gosford.

Adult Dog Training Program

This program is designed for dogs aged 7 months and older and runs for six weeks. The goal of this program is to cover basic manners and behavior management, including walking loosely on a lead, coming when there are mild distractions, lead manners, and calm greetings around people and dogs, among other topics.

$260 / 6 week program

Dog Training at Home

If you are unable to attend a group class or if your dog would benefit more from one-on-one training, we offer private dog training courses in the comfort of your own home. Each course covers the behaviors you would learn in a group class, the educational topics we discuss, and can be customized to address any specific behaviors you would like to work on.

Had the most amazing final lead walking session with Poppy on the weekend. This incredible pooch and her awesome mumma absolutely smashed their loose lead training, with Poppy offering a loose lead, right next to her mumma for 99% of her walk. A little distraction appeared. Rockstar Recall - My top five tips !! 😀 1. Never make coming back to you scary, super important, particularly as a pup. Would you want to go back to someone who was yelling at you or angry, probably not right? Use happy excited tones always and make it fun for your pup to come back to you. 2. Be realistic about your expectations and practice regularly. Don't expect your dog to come back to you every time straight away. Recall training takes time, practice, and patience. So.be sure to practice regularly. 3. Set your dog up for success by starting in a low distracting environment first and build the distraction level slowly over time. Your local beach is not the place to start training way too many distractions. Start in a familiar area like your backyard and then move to a familiar, safe, quiet area like a park and always at a quiet time. 4. Use a long line to start the process, and for safety, always attach this to a harness. Long lines keep our dogs safe and allow us to provide distance for Recall training whilst giving our dogs some much needed freedom to explore the environment. 5. Use a high reinforcer. Kibble won't cut it. Keep your extra special treats for your Recall training and reinforce regularly. Love is this girl Pippa, the most adorable cuddly love bug ever 🥰❤️ Sessions with Pippa were such a dream. Her lovely mum and dad just wanted to make sure they were giving her the best life ever, were reading her correctly, and keeping her safe out and about. We also worked on some common adolescent behaviours such as building engagement around distractions and some techniques for pulling on lead towards smells and favourite spots for rolling in. Pippa did so well with her training and improved immensely during our three sessions. This was all done using force free training techniques that engage our dogs, make training easy, and keep our fur kids feeling safe and supported. Loose Lead Training with Maverick...well it was meant to be anyway lol 🤣🤣🤣. This completely gorgeous adolescent boy found something more appealing a stick, one of his favourite things, so he laid down and played with this instead. After a few minutes, we went back to training again lol 😆 Sometimes training doesn't always go to plan and you know what that's ok, it happens and there are many reasons why this can happen, perhaps the training session went to long, the environment is not right for your dog as there are too many distractions, your reinforcer does not hold enough value, your dogs tired or perhaps we are tired too. Dogs can become distracted as well, particularly adolescent dogs. If this happens, roll with it and assess what happened. If your dog is engaged with you and ready to move forward, great. If not, that's ok too. You can start again another day. Was an absolute pleasure working this boy, and his lovely hoomans. Oatley - On his first day of assistance dog training. Our first day out is always about monitoring our dogs' stress levels and making sure they feel super comfortable and safe. We do this by giving our dogs lots of breaks, providing yummy treats so our dogs associate the work as a positive, and keeping any new potential triggers to a minimum. This is George. George has really big feelings about dogs that are too close.Unfortunately, this led to lots of barking and pulling on the lead, which became super hard for his mum and very stressful for George. So, we worked on building a strong foundation of behaviours first, away from his triggers so George could comfortably redirect to his mum and learn to move with mum when needed. Then, over time, we slowly introduced triggers at a distance. In this session, he saw six dogs at different distance points which was a lot for George but he happily redirected to his mum, moved away from his triggers instead of reacting and was able to recover quickly and continue a wonderful loose lead walk. So all in all, a job very well done, George, and we are so proud of you 👏 🥰 💛 🥲 Reactivity is hard and such a different journey for every dog. Work at your dogs pace and build a strong foundation of behaviours first appropriate for the type of reactivity you are dealing with. There are many force free options out there to do this, attention games and focus work, scatters, pattern games, counter conditioning and desensitisation protocols. Start with your dogs triggers at a distance first, don't overwhelm your dog, then over time, you can work on slowly reducing that distance or access to these triggers, whilst continuing to work on helping your dog feel more comfortable. And yes, you will have good days and really bad days, it's all part of the journey. Last session with the very lovely King this week. We concentrated on using a long line to reduce frustration, pulling, and to enable learning. Strategies for jumping and excitability around visitors, which is hard for King because he's a super social adolescent love bug and a 'let's go' to ask King to move with us when we need him to. Last session with Baby Bear before his Public Access Test in a few weeks, where we hope he becomes a fully fledged Assistance Dog. Outdoor sessions with Biscuit, so love this dog. She's not super keen on other dogs, she's not reactive towards them just not keen so her mum wanted to make sure she was reading Biscuit correctly and keeping her happy and safe when out walking. What was so awesome about working with Biscuit is that she has well developed coping mechanisms and body language skills so if she sees a dog she's not sure about, she has a look and simply walks away, awesome!! So we worked on capturing the behaviour and reinforcing it along with all of the other awesome behaviours she offers out on walks. Instead of busy dog walks we stuck to sniff walks and quiet beach walks instead, which she loves. It's important to remember that not all dogs are dog social and not all dogs need to go to dog parks or have off lead dog play. So if thats your dog embrace it, be ok with it and dont force your dog to be something they are not because your dog will be much better off for it. My last training session with the very lovely Cleo and her awesome mum. For this session we aimed to increase focus with distractions whilst ensuring Cleo felt comfortable, stress free and not overwhelmed with the craziness of the busy Haven. Busy places like this can be to much for any dog, particularly one that is adolescent but due to the amazing work that Cleos mum has put in she took it all in her stride, was checking in frequently, sniffing calmly and circling back to her mum to continue forward..No stress, no pulling on the lead just chilled sniffing and having some treats. It's amazing what you can achieve using force free reward based training methods that work on giving your dog choice and building their confidence. Cleo has been trained using nothing but force free reward based methods and ts quite amazing to watch the choices she makes none of which are cued. This is the very sweet Dusky, a very special rescue dog, who has been on quite a journey. She is a little frightened of some things in this world and so her new awesome parents, just wanted to make sure they were giving her the best chance at life. So, we worked on some pattern games to build confidence with her triggers, behaviour modification aimed at changing her emotional response to these triggers to a feeling of safety, and most importantly we worked at her pace to ensure she felt safe and supported during her sessions. She has come a long way in the time we have worked together, is now showing excited, happy body language when going for her walks, along with disengaging and recovering a lot quicker when seeing a trigger in the distance and this has all been done force free. We still have some work to do but I have every confidence that her wonderful, supportive pawrents will get her there. Thanks so much for allowing me to be part of this journey, it has been an absolute pleasure working with you and this beautiful girl.
